Financial assistance

Private Insurance

Savings and financial-support pathways for patients with commercial or private prescription insurance.

PATIENT GUIDE

Where to start

If you have employer-sponsored, marketplace, or other commercial prescription insurance and a specialty-medication copay is difficult to afford, start with the support program for the medication you were prescribed. Many manufacturers offer savings or copay programs for eligible commercially insured patients.

Eligibility varies by program.

Manufacturer copay programs commonly exclude Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA and other government-funded coverage. Review the current program terms before enrolling.

Medication-specific manufacturer support

Savings and patient-support programs may be available depending on your medication, insurance coverage, and eligibility. Visit the MedEd Center page for your medication to see available support resources.

Independent charitable assistance

Some independent nonprofit programs may help eligible patients with copays, premiums, deductibles, or other treatment-related costs. Covered diagnoses, insurance requirements, income limits and funding availability vary.

Always check current availability directly with the organization.

Specialty pharmacy and other help

Your insurance plan or medication program may assign a specialty pharmacy. If the quoted copay is unaffordable, tell the pharmacy before shipment and ask whether a financial advocate, benefits specialist, or patient-support team can help.

If your medication is filled by a specialty pharmacy, use the contact information provided by your insurance plan, medication support program, or prescription paperwork. If cost is a concern, ask whether a benefits specialist or financial advocate can help you identify available assistance.

Your healthcare team may also be able to connect you with a social worker or financial navigator for help with medical bills, premiums, transportation or other treatment-related costs.
